Diet is important. Some of the oldest people on the planet are the Japanese who live in Okinawa. They eat fish, vegetables, fruits and rice and noodles mostly. Then it helps to have a good attitude about things. To be relaxed and have a pleasant and simple routine to your life. Then it helps to exercise regularly. This is important. If you are happy to be alive then chances are you will continue to be alive.
My neighbors are a married couple , the man 98 and the woman 93 years old. He cuts his grass himself. They walk the dog and do their own gardening. They shop for themselves and they are healthy. They have the sweetest most accepting natures too. They enjoy life and it shows. AND their life has not been easy all the time. My area went through Hurricane Katrina and this couple and my husband and I did not evacuate. When the wind died down we went out in the street to look around and there stood the 93 y/o lady Sunshine. 'Well, she said, we came out OK. After all during the hurricanes of 1947 and 1969 we lost everything, This time only our roof.' That kind of attitude.

Yes - as others have shown, there are many cases of living over 100. In the US, a letter signed by the President of the US is sent to all citizens that reach 100. Cool (even if you don't agree with the president).
The system of medicine is not known really, but it involves your own taking responsibility for your health. All the things you hear, (a glass of wine, peanuts, low-fat, exercise) may contribute to your longevity.
Live well and prosper! _\\//

Chandra, by the time you are 100yrs old you are likely to be tired of living cos you will be too wrinkled and weak to want to live on.
Some people really live beyond hundred and i don't think they did anything other than maintain healthy living style which includes eating right and exercising frequently.
For now i do not know of any medicine that defies death.
