Derek Jeter is by far the best player in baseball right now. If the Yankees win the division he has to be the MVP. I can't justify any DH becoming an MVP of any league. I know Big Papi has been keeping the Sox in the race but a DH is NOT a complete ballplayer as far as I'm concerned. I never include pitchers in that argument either. You can only determine the best player from players who play every day.

It has to be Lance Berkman. The guy is an all around great player. He comes with power and defensive wit. The Big Puma got two outfield assists against St. Louis before the break, one at second and the other at third. Oh and did i mention he could hit. He is third in the MLB in RBI's, which really shouldn't matter seeing as though Big Papi David Ortiz is only a DH and hardly plays Defense. He has my Hank Aaron vote.

my answer:
derek jeter. im by no means a yankee fan, im always rooting for them to lose actually.. but jeter does more for the yankees than any other player does for his team. take away jeter from the yanks (can u imagine if he ever got traded?!) and they'd be done. you cant replace a guy like that, with his kinda heart and skillset. though not the best hitter in the game, or the best fielder, his total package as a player and a leader surpasses anyone else in the mlb.

In my book, Josh Beckett. Yes, he really hasn't been very consistant lately, but as I've said before. TRUE fans do not stop loving their team (especially their favorite player) just because of having some bad games. He is a phenominal pitcher and will bounce back soon!
