Any age under 16...pelvic exams are not routine at all..if a girl under 16 wants a pelvic exam done, her parents should ask the doctor first..

It depends. If there is suspicion of abuse, a girl is never too young. If the girl is sexually active, she should have one every year. Before a girl is put on birth control she should have a pelvic. So, baring sexual intercourse and sexual abuse, approximately 16 or 17 is a good age.

I think if the girl is having sex or seems to be heading down the road in that direction then the age doesn't matter. Of course, if the girl is not sexually active (nor does it seem she soon will be) then I think 16-17 years old would be appropriate.

If you have suspicions she is sexually active then she needs one even if she is 12 (I have seen little 12 year old girls with babies). If she asks to be on birth control she needs one. I had my first one at 13 (I was sexually active)
