It wouldn't surprise me at all. Most people I know who have gone through a divorce, it's for just that reason. My husband and I were friends for 3 years before we started dating, then dated for 2 years before we got married. We both believe that is why our marriage is so strong. It's sad there are no more couples like our grandparent, but I'm hoping to see a change in society soon.

people never REALLY know each other....it has nothing to do with that in the long run....people just don't take marriage seriously, PERIOD! People change over time, and with new expereinces....therefore, you can't ever really know someone. If you leave for work one day knowing a particular thing about your partner, but, then your partner has an experience that changes his/her perspective about that "particular thing" that you knew about him/her....your partner will be a different person when you get home (so to speak).....this is a very extreme version of the thought, but hopefully it gets the idea across....people just get married too fast, or with unrealistic expectations, and run at the first sign of "trouble" because they don't have the balls to stick it out and work for it and because the are lazy. There are some ligitimate reasons to get divorced (infidelity, abuse, etc.), but it just isn't sacred anymore.

Yes, that's one reason but also because people don't know how to commit. Some people know how to commit, but they don't know how to work. Marriage takes two individuals willing to work on and work through whatever faces them and when there isn't 100% from both sides, then problems occur and often lead to divorce or a dead marriage. Marriage just isn't living with someone, but its growing with that person and sacrifice.

Nope, didn't know that, but considering that my husband I used to (and sometimes still do) have problems in the communication area, and considering how celebs marry as often as they change their underwear these days...I believe it. :)
