Actually if you are going to have them install something then you will be ok as for anything else i would not recommend going to them. i have been having computer problems so i took mine to them the other day and the stupid tech didn't even know where to plug his cord in I had to show him!!!! then they didnt even help me at all the one guy kept asking the other guy about my problem i stated then they sent me packing telling me i need to contact the manufacturer of my video card (well what if my video card wasnt the problem? i wanted them to run a diagnostics) not to mention another customer who was next to me wasn't getting any answers from them either and was complaining to the manager so seems like they just hire any idiot off the street. take your computer to Compusa its more expensive but at least they know what they are doing (and no i dont work for compusa)

Oooooooh! This is a good one. This may well prevent me from getting hired there but I'm going to tell you the truth. I can only speak for the in-store agents, they're not all that smart (at least most of them). There was a story floating around on the web about a man who wanted his hard drive upgraded and transferred, in the process, both hard drives were destroyed due to mishandling, plain incompetence or who knows what, they made no apologies for it and tried to blame it on him. I don't trust ANY of my computers to the Geek Squad, I don't trust them and every time I have tested them I have gotten from half right answers to something that was just plain wrong. They couldn't even tell me what type of memory my laptop used even by looking at the module and couldn't figure out how to find out through Windows, which is just plain sad. Of course, I already knew and I know how to find out but I was just doing some investigating, they failed my test. They also told a man with an AGP slot in his PC that they could install a PCIe card, never mind the fact that he would have needed a new motherboard, processor and possibly memory.

I can't say this for all Geek Squad or Best Buy locations, I can only say this for the ones in the White Marsh/Bel Air, Maryland area and even then it's only for the in-store agents. The home service agents actually seem to know what they are doing occasionally but they are not authorized to take anything from your home back to the store to work on so be prepared for more than one service call if they need to get a part.

Here's what I recommend. Take your PC to a mom and pop computer shop, chances are they are far more competent and more intelligent than your average in-store Geek Squad agent. Heck, if I was in your area, I'd fix your computer for less than they could do it. It costs a lot, especially if they have to do a home call, just to get a router installed costs $80, I remember seeing a wireless router advertised for over $160 installed (which is way overpriced).

I do not trust the Geek Squad, Sam I am, I do not trust them on the train, I do not trust them in the rain, I do not trust The Geek Squad Sam I am, I do not trust them, Sam I am.

I work for one of Best Buy's competitors (CompUSA) and I have to tell you that Best Buy's service isnt all its cracked up to be. Im no technician or anything but I can walk in their and explain my problems and they tell me that its something else. Its usually something that will cost me much more money. Of course I reccomend CompUSA since I work there. Do a little research on your own and see what you like more. It always depends on the person you talk to and what you need done. I suggest getting one of these places to look it over first. Good luck.

you're in business enterprise and you write like this? Whew! you need to look on the duplicate of the settlement you signed. on a similar time because it says they are able to't be held in value for lost expertise, which you could component out that they have been best checking the fan. Take it in and use a noisy voice to ask what exceeded off. do no longer yell or use profanity or insult them. yet communicate as once you have have been given a listening to ailment. attempt to embarrass them alongside including your questions. (word until eventually now you circulate there so as which you will no longer sound like an fool.) i'm hoping you communicate greater effectual than you write. you additionally must touch Acer as there must be a backup of your place living house windows. (i'm hoping you registered it on a similar time as to procure it.) you could no longer sue everyone for mendacity because it is your be conscious in direction of theirs and the written settlement constantly trumps the voiced one. you will must be ready to place a sprint bit rigidity on them approximately reinstalling living house windows. Did you purchase the Acer from them?

Yea technicians at those kind of stores vary alot, in highschool I worked at staples as an instore tech all of the people I came into contact there were really smart and knew their stuff, but go to another store and the people had no idea. So it really varies who you get.

I had them install a video card in my computer once. It's pretty cheap depending on what you want done.
