Let's say a traveler flies around the world. Each time she passes through a time zone, it becomes one hour earlier. Finally, she goes 24 hours backwards in time. People like to say that she didn't travel back in time because when she arrives, everyone at the destination will tell the traveler it's actually a day later. But SHE thinks it's a day earlier. Won't the populus and the time traveler disagree about what day it is if the traveler actually DOES go back in time? Think about it...

The government has probably been doing this for years.

All you've shown is that time is relative and not an absolute feature of the universe. Even the conspiracy-ridden government knows that.

Actually, time travel will never happen.
Why...?
Any type of future technology could be brought from the future and made in the present. We have all the elements and resources that we will ever have, but not the technology.
So....
If it were ever to be invented, we would have been visited from the future already, and as such, we would have time travel. Since we do not, that means that it will never be invented.

There was a one time only festival/conference for time travel at a university (I can't remember which one) a few years ago.
The reason it was one time only....?
If one could travel through time, it wouldn't matter when the conference happened. A traveler could come and go as they pleased!
Of course no one from the future showed up. Maybe they missed it because they were just running late!!!! LOL!

This isn't actual time travel. It doesn't represent a reversal of real time. The traveler has simply arrived at a location where their clocks read different, but real time has passed. It is the same concept as when we cross from one time zone into another. My watch says 1:00 pm but the new time zone says it is noon. I haven't traveled back in time, the people in the new time zone simply account for the time differently than I do in mine.

Neat thought, though.

No, think about it. Time zones are a human invention. They are just a convenient concept, not even a physical thing. How can our ideas affect time...?

No, you have not discovered time travel, but instead both why there are different time zones and what makes nighttime and daytime.
