Remember there's a plan by OPEC to start trading/selling oil based on EUROS, not the dollar. Once that happens, our currency will devaluate even more, and we will experience serious economic problems with our purchasing power. Bush is bringing this country to hell!

I have to agree. That was my feeling after we went to war in Iraq. Bush wanted other nations to chip in on the cost of the invasion and France and Germany said NO. At that point I was of the opinion that France was going to sit back and let the US fund this so called war on terror and let us sink deeper and deeper in debt. And it's worked.
Can't fault the French for that. This was Bush's mess and some major players didn't feel obligated to chip in. The problem I see is that the people who are affected the most, the people who complain the most, are those that don't even vote. They have the ability to change the direction in which this country is headed. How we spend our money and where and yet they simply don't vote.
This is going to be a tough lesson learned. But in the end we may be better for it. Maybe next time voters will go to the polls and vote with common sense and logic instead of being told that they should vote a certain way because it's the patriotic thing to do. My heart goes out to future generations who is going to have to pay off this massive mistake of a debt that this clueless current administration has incurred.

The way the world economy is structured, we're required to run a trade deficit with the rest of the world, so that they can use our currency to back up theirs. The reason for this is because after WWII, the US economy was the only one that wasn't in ruins, so the rest of the world is based off of us. If foreigners start dumping dollars in favor of another reserve currency, it could cause inflation, but they haven't done that yet. As the US economy goes, so goes the rest of the world. They all have a major stake in our well being.
The reason why healthcare and social security is such a mess is that healthcare costs have spiraled upwards since these were implemented. We can keep people alive longer, but it costs a heck of a lot more. Also, since people are living longer, there are more people collecting social security, as a percentage of the population.
What we need to do to fix these issues is cap medicare payments in some way shape or form so the expenses can be accurately projected and contained. It sucks but it is simply not worth spending 30 million dollars to keep someone alive for 6 more weeks when that money could be better spent elsewhere. Also, we need to set social security benefits at a target high end of the age spectrum. I.e. we should strive to have only the oldest X% of our population on social security. Obviously such a plan would have to be phased in, but if it were implemented, it would ensure that the working adults would never be overburdened by their retired parents.

All great "empires" in history have fallen. Remember when the England was a great empire that was not so long ago. We are not going to loose our colonies (unless the Native Americans kick us out) we are going down the tube because we want to be the world police. We want the whole world to be a democratic world . Like we are setting an example for that? People sleeping on the street next to the White House, old people without meds or heat or fans, mental patients unattended. Poor education ( dare to compare with Europeans!) , Minimum wage which is scandalous. Working up to 80 hours a week to keep paying the necessities. Crooked politics with fixed elections. This is the great democracy we are offering the world by way of war.

America is too big, too well-armed, too belligerent and too dangerous to laugh at.
Many of us in other countries shake our head at the incredible state of American politics. For example, the 2004 election seemed to get bogged down on the issue of whether John Kerry actually deserved his Vietnam War medals when his opponent neglected to report for his 'sweetheart' deal soft duty in the National Guard. It was so non-sensical, yet Americans actually let it dominate the discussion.
It's like having a child molestor run against a winner of 'father of the year' award and spend the whole time arguing whether the 'father of the year' winner should have won in the first place! (?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?)
Another aspect of the deep seated pretzel logic in American politics is the attitude towards taxation and government programs. Americans are so convinced that taxes are evil that they will accept a situation where millions go without basic services (health care) and schools are deteriorating to the point of being unfit so that rich people can enjoy a significant tax break, middle class people can get a miniscule reduction and poor people get p*ss all.
Government by the rich, for the rich and of the rich. (Oh, yes, the poor can always get a job dodging IEDs in Iraq.)

The thing is that American policies aren't just f ucking up America, they are f ucking up the whole world.
America has done it's fair share of immoral lending too. This debt (often made to dictators) is crippling many of the African economies at the moment. One of the countries, France, who made one of the most serious efforts to stop you making such a huge and obvious mistake in Iraq now seems to be despised in America.
We're definitly not laughing!

Who says SELLING the war may be good for some??? deffinetly not. America wants to be leader of the whole world like what Hitler thought during his dictate. In America Presidents are following the same way. They know very well about it. But there is not other way to make money and distroye own country people with telling lie. They are creating problamatic situation for their own people. And also they think If they do so their party can remain in power and no one can dare to ask bout their curruption. Just think How many billion dallers they use to spend for deffence, to fight with terrors??? they think they can destroy terrorism. The name Terrorism came from America,,, He created it. He spread it. They shud understand dat democracy is not so important, the health, reputation, work, food for people is very important than fighting each other or waging war with other country. Why they are not opening their mouth for democracy in Netherland? why they are pressing all arab countries for democracy???? Why they are supporting war criminals Israel for bombing on Lebanon? when they BOMBING innocent people? Just think. I m not going to support any kind of terrorism. But just telling the fact.

I think the rest of the world is either sitting around gobsmacked at our stupidity or shaking scared to death at what we will try next. (I am a US citizen) Remember Oh rest of the world- the last election was like a 51%- 49-% split. Just as soon as a few more people wake up and smell the corruption and stupidity, things will change. I hope.

You have come up with a very good question. Indeed the world is laughing at America.
It seems to me that American govt. is getting message to his ego boost by giving or promising money to everywhere and promoting war to everywhere.
War ! means lose of money and human lives.
You, American people can change only this happening, no one else. You have the power of vote. Use it properly and change the future.

We waste trillions on everything else why should this be any different. We've wasted at last count 6 trillion dollars on programs started under LBJ to fight a 'war on poverty'. There are still poor folks out there. Guess we're losing that war too. So let's cut and run.
