The window tint law is based on safety. If the windows are darkly tinted, then it would be difficult or impossible for a police officer to see inside when stopping you. He/she wouldn't be able to see you, and wouldn't know if you were, for example, holding a gun ready to shoot at the officer.

It's the same thing for a lot of other laws. They are necessary to protect the greater good.

For the person who stated that the country isn't free because they can't play in fields due to locks, that's an issue of property rights. If I own property, I can keep you off of it. Just because this is a free country doesn't mean that you can do whatever you want with my property.

I'm really not sure. I do think government has taken (or been given, by our lack of action like not voting) too much power over private matters. I guess, for some things, they are protecting others. Have you asked why you cannot tint your windows? (Other than that it's illegal) I can understand laws that make us buckle minors in the car, but not the ones that make adults buckle themselves. I do not understand why a house can be condemned if it is just myself that wants to live in it, but I can understand these laws if I try to rent it out or allow children to live in an unsafe structure. I understand laws that protect the environment, but do not understand laws that tell me I cannot live on my own property in a tent or travel trailer.
When I ask why, I never get an answer as to why these laws exist, but only am told that these laws exist. It will take lots of people who care (and know how) to fight these laws. No country can stay free if the people who live in it do not get involved and fight for their rights.
Sorry I don't have an answer, but if someone who knows the answer would actually take the time to answer the question, I would also appreciate it.

I dont feel as if our country is free at all. You cant even play soccer at the local fields. There is a fence with a lock on it. You cant play baseball on the field they also have a fence with a lock. You cant let you puppy run free, it must be on a leash. You cant swin in a lake or a pond because there are signs everywhere saying not to. Its just silly.

Ask Wal Mart.

No, this is NOT a free country.

Americans have been brainwashed.

Restrictions, regulations, laws, politicans...

For example, why does everyone shop at Wal Mart? They think it's out of convenience, but actually Wal Mart reels you in and then, bam!
Before you know what's happened, you're always there!
That's one of their power words...WalMart...always...

Not a free country.

Nothing's free.

Tinting your car window is small stuff, but a small step towards Communism.

To protect all citizens. Freedom is broad but not without definition. Freedom does NOT enable you to do whatever you feel like doing whenever you feel like doing it, without discretions or boundaries. You have to respect the rights and safety of others, so your freedom is only allowed where it will not encroach upon someone else's.
