Beta means that something is pretty much fully functional, but still in test mode. Computer software and hardware, usually goes through a two stage process of in-house testing called Alpha and out-house testing called Beta. The general public beta test the product before full release, sometimes through incentives like getting the product for free or at a discount... Often with the stipulation that they will provide feedback on the product. The company uses this feedback to tweak and improve the final product. This is not the cases with explorer 7.0. You can supply feedback, but there is no obligation to do so.
Explorer 7.0 is an improvement on previous versions... Indeed, it is not an upgrade like previous versions, they have completely re-designed it. The best improvement is the ability to open separate tabbed pages within the same browser.
I personally use explorer 7.0 beta and have personally had no problems with it.
My favorite browser however, is Opera. I prefer this to both Explorer and Firefox. Opera is free but comes with advertising links within its browser, you can get rid of the advertising by purchasing it. I loved the browser so much, that's exactly what I did... It is a superbly stable browser.
