This really isn't their job. It is not the job of law enforcement to give guidance or lectures. Especially during an arrest. They are not counselors or judges. And they should not behave as one. They are simply there to enforce the law. Very few words if any need to be said in most of the situations. It is not their place to lecture someone after they have been arrested for crimes such as drug posession or picking up a prostitute. Officers are not qualified to advise on those subjects. They should simply enforce the law and read rights. What do you think on this subject?

Sometimes I think they do it for the benefit of the cameras and other times I think they do it in hopes that the suspect will let out a little tidbit despite being read his or her rights. Other times, such as in drug arrests, they will try to go after a bigger fish such as a supplier in hopes of stopping drug activity.
In some of these cases I have seen on COPS, I feel that some of them really do care and hope that maybe a lecture will reach someone and help them straighten out their lives.

yeah buts amazing how you can shame someone into NOT doing something.....and any psyche or sociological insight into matters is not a bad thing and theu do not enforce the law btw ~ courts enforce the law technically they are there to PREVENT crime..and shaming a criminal will often prevent re-offending

distancing themselves from people and just enforcing/arresting would just create mindless automatons and would further distance people from the police and create tension within communities....they are there to "serve and protect" they dont just do crime ya know

i had a cop once help me break into my sisters house when she was away and he was great about it ~ he wasnt enforcing any law ~ in fact he aided me break and enter a private residence.....if i HADNT got in there it would have been bad....if i hadnt asked for help id have been arrested....at no point did he say oh thats not the law etc etc.,....(sure he did check out who i was etc etc ) he just helped me best he could and i appreciate that fact

if you want a police state thats fine by me but you would be the first to complain

"give us liberty or give us death....now you got both what ya want next?"

You can not say that that is not their job. They are educated about all kinds of criminals. It's better they shud give some guidance or lectures to arrested criminals. But the way they are using is not correct. They are there to catch them and put them behind the bars till court sommons them. Sometimes officers make criminals to change their behaviour. If officers are good chances are there to change criminals into gud person. Isn't it???

Wait? I thought cops were above the law? I mean really, the laws don't apply to them, so maybe that's where they get that god complex from.

Did you ever see the episode where the woman and her boyfriend (her babies daddy) got caught having sex with her 3 year-old child in the back seat?

Ya I'd shame them too.

Maybe they will get through these idiots who break the law. What can it hurt to tell them to straighten up and fly right?
