Neither.
Some years back, on his deathbed, the man who claimed to have shot the photo of the loch ness monster admitted that the picture was actually that of a child's blow up swimming pool floatie that he placed in the water before taking the picture.

It can't be an elephant.

There are a couple of these monsters in bodies of water around the world, so I believe they're some sort of prehistoric creature.

I reckon there is a submerged inlet from the sea into the loch and, occasionally, dolphins get through. As they swim along near to each other it looks from a distance like the serpent-like loops of the traditional monster.

Definitely not an elephant! I've never heard it described as this before!!

I think it is a pre-historic beast....or a figment of the imagination.

The story goes that it is only ever seen by a true Scot after a haggis full of scotch......

I've heard the elephant one before. If you look at how they swim with their trunks in the air, it could be possible. Not sure there's many in Scotland though unless it was an escapee. Personally I don't believe it. Technology available would have found "something" by now.

A school of fish that swim in formation and leap out of the water in unison, giving the appearance of one large solid object for an instant. Once they return to the water, they swim apart and sonar cannot detect the 'creature'.
