Usually it only matters to immature men or boys still in high school. Once you get to college and beyond men tend to see you more for what you are and appreciate your intelligence and personality. That doesn't mean women shouldn't try to stay in shape and watch their weight for health reasons - just that most men are not attracted by the bony women that are being portrayed in the media. Research has shown that what we women think is attractive and what the majority of men find attractive is vastly different. Tell your friend to hang in there and seek out boys in your age group that have matured more than her last choice!

Fat at 115 lbs and she's 16? She's much, MUCH better off without the guy who told her that. If she were only five feet tall, 115 is NOT fat!
But to get to the rest of your query: men and women are programmed by nature to look for mates for childrearing purposes. We are programmed to select the healthiest specimen of the opposite sex. That's to ensure they live long enough and remain healthy long enough to care for the children until they're old enough to care for themselves. How do we tell? Without all the highfalutin' medical gear we have now, humans for untold ages could only tell by looking. FAT people look unhealthy, whether they really are or not. You know yourself that buff guys are a whole lot more attractive than lardbutted slugs. Same thing applies: fat guys were less likely to live long enough and be successful enough to provide for mama and the kids - and that remains true in the 21st Century.
Yes, an overweight woman can often lead a productive life, raise good kids to adulthood and enjoy a loving lifetime relationship with her hubby. But for her, that hubby will be harder to find. Fair? No, it's not. But that's the way it is, so she either has to suck it up and be patient, or lose the excess poundage.

It doesn't really matter if true love is involved. I weigh 466 lbs and my wife is still married to me after almost 25 years. Some people just can't tell how they really feel and must come up with a lame reason.

in my views, ya size does matters smtime, if bf is fatty n gf is thin like thread, thn u tell me is that a right couple, no na?? vice versa- if gf is fatty n bf is thin thn it also not make a sence, so size does matters. it also matters in sex appeal, if a gal doesnt have proper curves n cuts , she cant attract anybody cause outer beauty is noticed first of all than inner beauty, so size does matters
