Marsh Creek.. it's a state park in Exton/Lionville (near the PA turnpike/Downingtown exc.).. there's the lake and a pool... the pool costs 5.00 per person per day.. or you can buy a season pass (though it's late in the season).. it's a nice pool.. and there's a shade area/food...

I wouldn't swim in any of the pools in the Philly area. I know that there are a lot of them open, but some of them are just as dirty as the fountains. Besides, they're so crowded and it may be pretty hard to find a spot where a 5 year old girl can swim without behind splashed, bumped into or knocked under by older kids playing games or something, you know?

If you can pull it, I say the Jersey Shore. There are a bunch of water parks where they have the lazy rivers and things like that. You could also try places like the Brandywine Picnic Park or the Neshaminy Creek.

The City of Philadelphia Recreation Centers have free pools all over the city and in Fairmount Park They are open till the end of August. You can find locations at the city website. http://www.phila.gov . The YMCA's have pools as well at some of their locations. Most of the other pools in the area tend to be either private swim clubs or College pools like those at Temple & U of Penn.

A little further than an hour, but come on "down the shore"
the wildwoods in southern jersy provide the ocean and ALOT of swiming pools. There are several water parks on the boardwalk as well
