It is actually really overwhelming experience to read the questions and answers of the people in yahoo answers. What I've discovered that sex related stuff are highly popular. People seem to have so huge taboos related to sex that it's incredible. There are either those who are moralizing or those who are pornographic. Both are basically the different sides of the same problem. Conlusion: our relationship to sex is ******* perverted!?

The other issue is religion. This issue seems to draw the most dim-witted and narrow-minded people from everywhere. No wonder religion related wars are everyday phenomenon. When I'm reading the answers it feels that I'm reading the answers of some brainwashed puppets. It feels so very very very frustrating.

Have you ever wondered what lies beyond your home country, culture, religion and relatives? So few are the people who seem to be thinking the thoughts that are their own. Who have genuine opinions. Annoyed and frustrated.

Id like to start off by saying I completely agree with you.

Having said that...I get my entertainment at work primarily from this site. It is because of the hardcore religious fanatics and atheists provoking each other, and the sometimes genuine, sometimes over-the-top sexual questions that keep me coming back and laughing time and time again. Ive even been known to do some provoking from time to time when im not answering serious questions. more than asking or answering though, i just read and laugh.

I realize its childish at times, but look at the vast variety of people on this network. Everywhere from 10 year olds just coming into their own, to 40 year old divorcees who have wisdom, yet little stupid problems, to people just fishing for points even without incentive.

Its really an amazing thing that Yahoo has done here, and even though you have to filter out the trash sometimes, its worth it in the end and some of the entertainment is priceless.

I am by no means narrow minded, but once in a while it is fun to partake in the childishness that is the majority of yahoo! answers

The best part is the people who think that they can change your fundamental beliefs using this system and intensely try to make you see things their way. like a fun, easy website is gonna make someone change who they are.

I love yahoo! answers for all the reasons that you are complaining about it, but you're right, it does get annoying at times

I think that delving into the herd once in a while to mix things up can be fun, but if you look at my answers, 90 percent of them are genuinely good, while about 60 percent of my questions are. I took about a week to attack religious fanatics, but it was a phase, and now im back to answering questions worthy of answers.

What should i eat today? or what is your favorite color in my opinion are the types of questions that ruin this site

I really wish Yahoo Answers would have existed when I was studying Psychology in College. If there was ever a vehicle for studying human intelligence, desires, likes and dislikes, hatreds, deep feelings and the upbringing of a cross section of humanity, the Yahoo Answers MUST be that vehicle...

I find it very interesting to study, up close and personal, just what people REALLY think when they can hide behind a fake image and an even more fake 'handle', which provides a high degree of anonamety... If the people in the Government Think Tanks haven't been taking advantage of the raw emotions shown in 'Answers' then they are missing the boat.

It's easy to understand how, given the right circumstances, a country can devolve into Anarchy... how easy it would be for the "Mad Max" syndrome to take over... all it would take, at least in the U.S., would be for the lid of the pressure cooker to come off because the Government fails and it's suddenly every man or woman for theirself.

Just look at Iraq... thanks to a totally incompetant President and Administration in Washington, a formerly peaceful part of the world has been thrown into civil war... AND IT IS A CIVIL WAR... I don't care WHAT Loozaliza Rice says.

Years ago, I had to read a book called "SEVEN DAYS IN MAY". Anyone who wants to understand what is REALLY happening and going to happen in the Middle East needs to read that book... it's all there... and the outcome is NOT nice... Obviously, that idiot Bush has not read it or he would NOT have started something that can result in the ruin of the world.

Finally, the big problem with the world is AmeriKa... the dumbing down of the school system so the not-too-bright could do the work has resulted in a nation of functional illiterates who are ignorant, know-it-alls that are arrogant about being ignorant.

For the last 40 years, successive generations have been fed a diet of trash... of non-issues... of smoke and mirrors... anything to keep them dumb and from seeing what is happening. Finally, generation "D" (for DUMB) is too illiterate and poorly motivated to do anything be become a nation of 3rd class and 3rd world peasants who struggle along on an unlivable wage and do it gladly because it''s what GEEZUS wants.

Yahoo Answers is merely a symptom of the sickness that grips AmeriKa and depresses the people...

You're not really asking a question are you, more "philosophizing" about the condition of human minds. And the problem with such musings as yours is probably that most people who would even read them will indeed have wondered what lies beyond their own home country, culture, religion and relatives and therefore maybe in many ways agree with your views - whereas the people who actually answer or ask questions in the manner you mention would hardly bother reading your statements / questions....

For this venue you've nicely stated the obvious. The trouble is - those who would gain most by what you've pointed-out probably won't bother to read, let alone heed your words.
Predictably, some people will use this medium as their personal graffiti-wall and others will use it as a podium - as we are doing.
I keep seeing gripes on here by people who have been 'reported' for what they deem minor infractions of Community Standards yet there is a plethora of smutty, scatalogical, downright filthy gutter language.
Only the faint-of-heart are really harmed by that - all they need to do is skip it. Same with the pontificators.
But it IS a shame this medium can't be free from fanatics and frustrated zealots.

You are so rite. I always just try to skip by the ones with politics, sex, and religion. The religion ones drive me soooo crazy though, especially the catholics and Christians, I am christian, but not like these people, these people are soo close minded. They already know the answer they are looking for, so why do they waste the 5pts asking the question. oh and another thing that bugs me on this site is how if you misspell a word everyone will jump on you, like they can't find anything else wrong but your spelling, it is the cheapest insult ever, if you are gonna insult me please think of something a little more creative

You made some good points there. I'd like to think I'm one of the exceptions. I noticed that there are certain kinds of postings, depending on what time you come come on. For example, there are almost no interesting postings now, as the Europeans are still at work and mostly teens from the US are on. If you want to catch the time when a lot of people are in "crisis mode", get on around 9-11 PM EST in the US. You might try searching in another area that interests you, for example science, books and authors, health, food or landscaping and gardening.

Yes it is frustrating to see. I sometimes feel like this is a cesspool of ignorance and stupidity, but, when you consider the source it makes it a bit easier to deal with. Most of the teens and preteens are the ones giving and asking stupid questions. I'm sure there are older ones who are doing it too but if you click on the avatar and check the ones who are giving the stupid answers you will see the pattern of stupidity. I find it easier to just ignore them most the time and every once in a while someone will surprise you with something really intellectual or funny.

I tend to agree with you that the quality of mental prowes throughout the world seems to be diminishing. But, what can we expect when we allow the best minds to be wasted in futile and un-necessary wars, poverty, and other assaults. It is no wonder the current gene pool is stunted, when the greatest resource we have, human minds, ideas, and creativity are allowed to rot on the vine simply because they may not be economically viable. Religious leader love ignorance, and pain, it makes their rantings more relevant and keeps fear alive. As does current Political idiom and criminal corporate activity. All act together to keep people repressed, oppressed and constantly blaming the other guy. More is the pity for all of us.

I somewhat agree with you on this one. Sex seems to be the # 1 subject...mostly stupid, perverted questions. Religion also appears to be a problem. People should recognize religions outside their own and accept them. The world is not just in your backyard.

I agree, but keep in mind that there are some intelligent ideas floating around on Yahoo Answers. You just have to dig through lots of trash to find them!
