The original is amongst my favourite films, the 70's remake was passable while the latest incarnation relied to heavily on action and effects. The CGI was mediocre too. I have seen the original concept sketches and some of the early script ideas for the original film (at the Bradford Museum of Film and Photography) and really do not think the idea of the story was racially inspired. There were planty of racist films in those days like "Birth of a Nation" and as it was rare for plots to have or indeed need complex subtexts so King Kong would have been blatantly racist if it was meant to be racist.

what? it's about a gorilla. Are you comparing a gorilla to a black man. the only black guy in the movie was a mate on the ship. i don't recall him liking the girl at all, unless you have some secret insight to the script.
i thought the movie as a whole was ok. the first hour could have been cut.
the second hour was pretty violent, including the bug attack and man-eating worms.
The dinosaur scene was probably the coolest, especially the TRex Attack.
The last 30 minutes was probabaly the best.
overall it was ok, but very loud and disturbing in the theater.

This last King Kong was the best of the two remakes—though a bit too long. They at least cut out scenes from the ship ride back to the US after Kong was captured. Special effects were very good. Best line: "He [Kong] learned how to not hurt someone he loved".

After countless trips to the toilet with my 6 year old stepson and hasty exit from the cinema when he got scared during one bit of the film i enjoyed it but felt that it was dragged out to long. I have to agree with the comment above that Peter Jackson thinks a film under 3 hours is a waste of time. oh did i mention that my stepson cried his little heart out all the way home from the cinema because King Kong got shot at the end. Ahh bless he thought he was too nice to be killed

LOL King of the Hill is more realistic compared to Family Guy for example; KING OF THE HILL they are some redneck neighbors dealing with one another with some funny situations, i think they are making fun of Texas people in some shows. but it still rocks! Family Guy has a evil talking baby and some retarded points...THE END

I thought it was good. I'm tired of people saying something is boring because the director decides to do a little character development. So all in all I enjoyed the movie... at least until the very last line was uttered " T'was beauty that killed the beast"

I love how you extrapolate that from King Kong! LMAO! XDD
But anyways, yes, I thought it was an amazing movie, no matter what the critics said. Peter Jackson is an amazing director.

Get a grip honey, the movie was science fiction about a giant ape! LMAO
But to answer your question, before you went off on the non-sensical tangent, I liked the most recent remake as well as the original plus the other remakes.

I think it was an outstanding movie, I really enjoyed it. I loved the original, but this was awsome. The allegory you refer to would not surprise me for the time it was written, however I am not convinced by it.
It is a great story about how unbridled greed can lead to disaster.
