Geek Squad is terrible.
You probably need to clean out your computer.
Over the years stuff like dust, carpet fiber, animal hair, etc can get into the case and really hose things up. Simple logic.. fnas get loaded up, things overheat.
Save yourself a lot of money, seriously.
Go to your local office supply store, or target/walmart for that matter, and purchase a can or 2 of compressed air.
Open the case, hold your finger or the eraser end of a pencil on your processor fan, and any other fan in the system, and spray the heck out of it. Try not to actually spin the fans with the air, as over spinning causes the bearings to overheat, and not work properly after that.
Clean out all of the fans, then the rest of the case. I would suggest that you do this outdoors, because 3 years of dust buildup will really make a mess out of your office!!
Also, keep in mind that once AMD processors overheat, they generally tend to run at a higher temp from then on out. If you have a Pentium, you may be ok with just cleaning out, though.
Thermaltake makes a more powerful processor fan. If cleaning it out only helps a bit, you may want to think about replacing the processor fan with something stronger.
Just google Thermaltake, you'll find their site pretty easy.. or search newegg.com for it.

Open your computing device computing device up and characteristic a seem while the skill is working (be careful as there are quite effectual voltages etc in there so do no longer touch something. verify to confirm in case you will locate any followers that are actually not turning (those might desire to be on the CPU itself, the photos card or perchance a stand on my own fan). If those are actually not turning turn the computing device off, enable issues calm down for a on an identical time as and (having unplugged the computing device from the mains) see if the followers are caught - if so you are able to could interchange them. additionally attempt blowing the airborne dirt and mud out of the unit itself with come compressed air (in a tin) - back, be careful because of the fact the airborne dirt and mud will go everywhere. If each and every thing seems ok positioned the canopy back on the computing device and plug it back in, then seem on the powersupply fan (you are able to could shine a torch in the process the grating on the back of the computing device to confirm it, back no count if that is not turning attempt a blast of compressed air and if that would not think of roughly changing the fan (it would be outfitted into the powersupply wherein case you will possibly desire a sparkling grant - do no longer attempt to dismantle the skill grant). wish this enables.

There are two fans in a computer. One which blows the hot air OUT of the box, and the other sits on top of the CPU Chip to keep it cool. Box fans can be replaced easily and by just about anyone. But it sounds to me that the fan on top of the chip may have stopped working.
This is a simple fix, but one a tech should really do for you if you don't know what you're doing on the inside of a computer.

Add some internal fans, set them up to pull air from the front bottom and blow air out the back, prefferably near the processor.

Go get some canned air and open it up and blow it out. Then make sure all the fans are working. Also, make sure you do not have it in a cramped corner - make sure air can flow around it freely.

you may need more than the geek squad on this one. the internal fan may have quit working. this happens sometimes, because it can suck dust in and burn the fan motor up. you may need to send it to dell to get it repaired.
