They are great eating but it takes quite a few to make a meal as they are very tiny.
The meat is light like chicken breast and simmalar in taste. A little gamier. But I have only eaten wild ones. I have never rasied them.
They are very tiny and you have to have a very secure pen to keep them in. They are fast and wild. They eat a game bird food available at most farm supply sotres. Some areas have restrictions on how many you can raise or you will have to have a permit. You can buy live birds in farm supply stores in the spring or order them from
www.mcmurrayhatchery.com or
www.welphatchery.com
Both places have very nice birds.
I have ordered birds from both companies and they have nice quality birds.

You raise them the same way you raise chickens. I love quail stuffed with onion, wrapped in bacon and dipped in red wine. They taste a lot like cornish hens. Why not try buying a few at you local butcher/grocery store (although only a few carry them in my area) and try them before you start raising them. My husband does not like to eat them because there isn't much meat on each bird

they don't need a lot. I don't know what they taste like. Go on Ebay and buy some eggs or go to someplace like mcmurrayhatchery.com to order babies, you just raise them like chickens but use non medicated chick starter
