I recently changed the light fitting in my lounge. It's connected to a dimmer switch. Now, if I turn the switch more than halfway, the lights start to flicker! What have I done wrong??

Check all of the connections to the dimmer switch. If the dimmer switch connections are all tight then you will have to remove the light fixture and check all of the connections there to make sure they are tight. Easy fix, you just have a loose wire somewhere. Good Luck

This means you have a loose connection either at the dimmer switch or at the light fixture. Turn off the power, then check that all the connections are tight.

If you hooked up an incandescent light dimmer switch to a florescent light, it simply will not work right...

You need a special dimmer switch for the florescent bulbs.

If you have hooked up a regular incandescent light to the dimmner switch, it may be defective...(yea, not everything that comes from the factory is correct, so, get a volt ohm meter and check the voltage on the "poles" and see if there is a fluctuation on them)...

I wish you well..

your dimmer switch is faulty, i can tell you this because you gave the information that "Now, if I turn the switch more than halfway,"....... that tells me the core of the variable resistor of the dimmer has broken down, the higher you turn it up, the hotter the core gets, the higher the resistance, the poorer the connection, the more the flicker pi55es you off.

now return it to were hence it came and get a new one...

either the wiring in the light socket is loose or at the switch. Either way turn off the power and check both

Call an electrician. It's surelly a loose wire somewhere but it's safer to have somebody fix it,...you might get electrouted or stuff like that

I'd recommend checking that you wired the light fitting correctly.
