My Beta fish is just 2 months old and I'm wondering when exactly I should seperate them. But they seem to be pretty friendly whenever I watch them, staying in their own territories (one in the bottom and 1 on top of the bowl). And I'm not sure of their gender either :-))

I think they must be separated even though they may look friendly now. Cos once they fight without your notice, what you lose will not only be their beautiful finnage, but maybe their life. So try to be safe, just separated them and you can watch them grow up beautifully with you.

Yours probably won't fight. Males don't develope in the same way if they are raised together. There will be a dominant male who will develope the long fins, and the others will look female. When you separate them into their own jars, they will all get long fins, but only if you do it soon. At two months it may already be too late.

They are already fighting. Bettas breathe air. They must get to the surface to do this. The one on the bottom is being bullied into suffocating.

You should start removing the males when they start fighting. Most of the females should be okay with each as long they are kept together.

male beta [brightly colored] will fight right from the start BUT they will only fight with other male beta. ALL YOUR OTHER FISH WILL BE FINE. just separate them from any other male beta and you will be all set.

female beta [dull colors, smaller] wont fight. they get along with other fish
