A couple of days ago I thought I would really suprise my Husband by cleaning and doing his bike up for him. I spent two and a half hours T-cutting the plastics, polishing the metal work and oiling the chain. After I finished it gleamed and I felt really proud. I went to move it to place it into the garage so he would see the suprise in the morning, however this is where the problem started. I fell over with it and the bike hit me then the floor, I tried to get it to land on me to soften the crash so it wouldn't damage the bike too much. We picked it up and he left it on the stand ten minutes later it fell over and smashed into the brick wall. I spent the whole night feeling really sh*ty and promised to make it up and repair it. He has been brilliant and says it doesn't matter, doesn't stop me feeling bad. I bought him a minimoto to make up for it. Do you reckon he is ok with me? Or is he just putting on a front for my sake? Would what you do?

He feels bad as well. It hit the brick wall after he helped you with it. That makes him feel like it was his fault too.
He is probably just fine with you. You let the bike fall on you, regardless of the damage caused to yourself.
"It doesn't matter" because what's more important to him (you) didn't get hurt.
You should fix it together. Who knows, it may wind up better than before.

You oiled the chain, too? WOW!!!

A rider's bike is like a man's wife.
Never touch or clean without prior permmission. And I doubt a true biker would allow anyone else to clean it for him / her NO MATTER WHAT.

Scratching it is already deemed as a 'major sin' let alone dropping it.

The obvious thing to do is to get it repaired back to its original restoration. Then NEVER talk about it again No matter what.

And Never again attempt to do what you did.

Cheers.

Follow Twatwaffle's advice, but more importantly, get it fixed RIGHT without spending money that comes out of your family budget. Sell something personal of yours to pay for the damage. You are not helping if you spend money he (and/or you) worked hard for for normal things to fix it.

This will get rid of any hidden resentment (a front for your sake). Guys are good at holding that stuff in until it comes out later in a different form (i.e., a mistress).

Well,,,,first off,,,,it couldn't have been a Harley,,,,,or else you wouldn't still be living in the house with him,,,,,so the fact that it must've been an inferior bike is probably the reason he didn't get upset,,,,,,,HOWEVER,,,,,,if there was a "step" for every good intention,,,we could walk to mars. My suggestion,,,,is simply to ask HIM,,,what you can do to make it up to him,,,do whatever he wants of you,,,and NEVER touch his bike without him being there !

Get his bike repaired for him, or at least do any/ every thing you can to help him repair it. And lots of massage and oral sex untill the bike is restored to its pre-dropped condition. If you follow these suggestion you might just survive.

If it was a Harley, the next time you are on the back of it with him going down the interstate at say 80 miles per hour, you could fall off. HA!HA!

Get it fixed, tell him you love him and you're sorry.

If it were me (and it sounds like the sort of thing I would do) I'd still feel bad, but it may make the difference to him. And probably he loves you more than the bike or he wouldn't have married you.

Defecation occurs... He sounds like an understanding guy and probably realizes it was an accident...Gotta say, though, if it fell once I think I would make real sure it was parked adequately to prevent any further ground contact...Once would be more than enough for me.....

If he was really mad at you i think that he would be yelling. maybe get him a gift certificate to his favorite motorcycle shop and put it in a card that says I'm sorry,I'm sure he knows it was an accident. you didn't do it on purpose and it would have been a great surprise, i hope you were not hurt when it fell on you. good luck!
