You need to take your own advice and 'get over it'.

We will take what we are owed and we won't stop until we get enough.

People like you have already made up your minds about those you are bias against. You're not genuinely seeking answers; you're use Yahoo to recruit others who feel like you do.

Water seeks its own level - like disgusting rats in a pack!!!

Now take THAT with ya!!!

Yes, slavery was certainly abolished a very long time ago but the attitudes about minorities are still very prevalent today. You are acting as if someone signed a paper that said that slavery was illegal and then everyone just forgot about it and started treating blacks as equals. This was certainly not the case. There are still some places where blacks can't go for fear of their lives. How can they work when they can't even venture outside safely? You are the reason that the attitudes are still prevalent today. Also, while many ethnics groups have been wronged by the United States, African Americans are the only race that has yet to recieve an official apology from the United States on the matter of slavery or even for the United States to acknowledge that it was wrong. What does this say about the United States governments attitude toward blacks? You should be quiet, your ignorance is showing.

I agree with the slavery part being over, and how can we give reparations to someone who had a slave in their family way back when? They personally weren't a slave. As long as the "slave" thing keeps getting brought up the longer it will take for people to get over it. Not just black people were slaves, if you read your history.

The fraud from welfare comment could go either black or white, I've seen it on both sides. It's like the whole low income housing thing, you can only make a certain amount to live there but you see all the nice new cars parked out front.

I think if we all should be treated equal. That's the goal right? I agree that we are kind of moving backwards instead of moving forward to equal ground. Some of our family were slaves way way back along time ago but I don't feel that I'm owed anything. It is unfortunate and a horrible part of history, however that's what it is HISTORY.
As long as we have one race being treated differently than another race we will never overcome race issues. As long as we have government treating one race better than another race we will never overcome race issues. We have a multi racial extended family and we strive to teach all of the children that they are the same. Adults are the ones with the problems. The children in our family don't see color unless an adult points it out. I am waiting for the day when color truly isn't an issue.

As for the welfare issue. I think all races are guilty of welfare fraud. You are part of the problem if you make statements that seperate one race from another. Its unfortunate that you have so much anger towards the black people instead of the government who is causing the race issues by treating them different. Its sad that you have valid feelings about what is fair but then you ruin it by making a ridiculous statement about welfare fraud.

That is very interesting that you should accuse African Americans of taking money from a country that owes so much to them already. I applaud any descendant for getting the crumbs of their rightful inheritance.

A long time ago is just an excuse. One...time is relative, and only used for your purpose to say,"Oh...well...um that was then, I was not there." Ok granted! Although you and every other person who is not the descendant of African Slaves still benefit from their hardships.

Oh yeah you didnt commit the crimes against Humanity, but you will accept the profits HUH!

Thought I'd point something out to you.

Contrary to popular belief, there are more White children on welfare than Black children, according to statistics from the Census Bureau and Department of Health and Human Services.

Nearly 9 million children on welfare in 1995 were White, the statistics show, compared to 4.8 million Black children.

White 38.8%
Black 39.8
Hispanic 15.7
Asian 2.4
other 3.3

Whites outnumber blacks in this country so though the black percent is higher, the actual number of whites on welfare is higher.

The Native Americans have their reservations and they were just murdered in their millions. Blacks had their whole culture stolen from them not just the entire lives of generations of people, they are truly dispossesed.

Anyway, wasn't America built on slavery? Where would you be now if you hadn't had all that free expendable labour?

Perhaps if America stopped raping Africa and practiced free trade that would be enough?

I'm black and don't want your "reparations." My ancestors fought and won my freedom, and that's all we really wanted. As for welfare, I believe people (black or white) should use the hell out of it. Our government is f*cking the working-class American over anyway, why not f*ck them back?
