Dark circles can be caused by a variety of things. They are often a sign of allergies or lack of sleep. To help prevent them, try to get plently of sleep and drink lots of water. If you have any known allergies try to avoid them. If you wear contacts, try taking them out more often. The stress they cause your eyes can increase the darkness of the circles. That's your first step. As far as makeup goes, depending on your skin type, the thickness of your skin, pore size, etc. will determine the type of concealer that will work best for you. I have had the same problem as you and I found that MAC cream concealer works very well and has a good selection of shades. I also like the Philosophy concealer trio. Both of these are slightly expensive and I don't know what your budget for concealer is, but going with a more expensive brand is usually worth it when it comes to concealer because the concentration of pigment and the quality of the ingredients are worth the extra price. You will get better, more natural coverage and will use less product with each application.
Keeping this advice in mind, go to a store like Sephora, Ulta3, or any department store that has several different brands of makeup and ask a sales associate to help you. Try on several kinds paying attention not only to the coverage and the color match but also to the application...is it something you can replicate at home? Then, wear it for a day before you make the investment to make sure is doesn's smear or roll up into the creases of your skin. You may be able to find a single product or you may have to go with a color corrector pigment (like yellow or green) to go under concealer or foundation. Good Luck!

1. Drink less or no coffee
2. Get a sufficient amount of sleep
3. Put camomile tea bags under your eyes for about 5 min
4. Get a concealer(consistency of a lipstick) a tiny bit lighter than your skin, put a tiny bit on the finger you use the less, and dab directly under the eyes up the the bottom lashes
p.s Make sure you do this in natural lightâ¥

I have really bad genetically-caused dark circles (it is untrue that dark circles are caused by lack of sleep, the real cause is skin transparency, which reveals the purplish veins beneath), and I use Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals Multi-Tasking Minerals (18.00) (a wonderful concealer) to cover them.
It works wonders, you should try it! You can get it at Ulta or Sephora. You might also like to purchase the Bare Minerals concealer brush (20.00); it's so soft and deposits just the right amount of concealer! :~)

Use concealer but use white! I know it kinda sounds crazy but it looks great! That is J.Lo's secret trademark makeup trick! But she uses it on top and bottom! That's a little to wacky for me. Sweep it under eyes and then rub in with fourth finger so you won't press down too hard! The only place i know of to get white concelar is by MAX FACTOR. Hope this helps ya! :-)

Bwahaha! I love this question because I am an expert! I have really bad dark circles and have been trying for years to deal with it. Here's what I do:
First, you need to start using an eye cream if you aren't already. The more money you spend on it, the better it will work. You need to use it every morning and night (I usually apply it after I wash my face. This will also help to stop wrinkles before they start)
Now, for covering them up, there are special cover ups made just for dark circles. Here's what I use: http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/benefit/product.asp?pd=8116&ct=for+eyes&pg=1 in combination with this: http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/benefit/product.asp?pd=8115&ct=for+eyes&pg=1
I swear by these products and I use them everyday! They may be expensive and seem to come in small containers, but a little goes a looong way with this stuff.
Then (after applying foundation to other parts of my face, not eyes) I use a compact powder, yes on my eyes too. Also benefit: http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/benefit/product.asp?pd=610&ct=foundation&pg=1 A little pricey, but works great!
Finally, I use a little eye illuminator under and to the sides of my eyes: http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/benefit/product.asp?pd=510&pg=1
I say benefit just because these are the products I know and love. They work great for me, but that doesn't mean they will work great for you. I suggest you go to their counter (in Macy's) and have one of their girls help you. If you tell them your problem specifically, they will know just what to do. I know it's kind of expensive, but if you save up like I did to get the prodcuts you need, they will last you for a really long time. ^_^ Good luck!
