There is no specific injury I remember. I know about a week ago it started to hurt, but I thought I slept on it funny. Now I can't lay on that side at all, and I have limited movement without pain. How could I have injured myself without remembering any specific trauma?

Holy cow! I guess I don't see it as serious as some of you. It is 7:30 in the morning, the clinic opens at 8 so I thought I would ask here and get opinions, kind of what I thought the purpose of Yahoo Answers was.

And to the dork who said I would get addicted, if that were the case, I would be eatting the Darvocet, Vicodin, and Oxycodone that I have left over from my cancer surgeries. Not everyone gets addicted to painkillers.

But thanks to the people who actually answered to help.

a similar thing happened to me the other day. i went to the doctors and they told me that I had rotator cuff tendonitus. basically i had pulled the tendons around my rotator cuff. painkillers generally can take up to 3 hours to take full effect. use anti inflamitry gell and masage it into the area. if it is still sore tomorrow, check with a doctor.

I had the same problem. I use my arm a lot for work and it turns out I had bursitis, or inflammation around the shoulder blade. OUCH it hurts. No much you can do but take an anti inflammatory and when it gets really bad ice it. Other than that, you can get a cortisone shot that can relieve the pain for several weeks. Go see a doctor though for long term treatment.....It will continue to hurt as long as you are still using that shoulder in the same manner...Good luck

Go to the doctor! They'll ask you some questions, do an MRI maybe.

But this happened to me a few months ago, and I didn't have any injury. It turned out I just needed a good deep muscle massage, after weeks of physical therapy, they finally did that on my shoulder, it hurt like a mutha during it, but it worked. So they chalked it down to stress.

The Dr also gave me some cool muscle relaxers.

Girl you might want to ask your doctor rather than us here in answers. Sounds like you need medical advice/attention. Until you get to the doctor try laying on some ice. Also taking Ibuprofen should of helped somewhat. Thats odd. Anyways go to your doctor and see whats going on. There might be more to the whole thing here than what we know about. Good Luck!

believe it or not, people injure themselves all the time and can't remember what they did to cause the injury. how it happened doesn't really matter at this point. you need to go to the doctor today before it gets any worse. the longer you wait, the worse it's going to get.

Can you lift your arm above your head? If you can't then most likely tear-if you can then it may mean that you have injured it, sprained possibly. See your doctor if you cannot lift it above your head without having pain.

Not sure how you did it , but see your doctor, because this injury , if treated the wrong way , could be with you for life.
