Provide them with more appropriate shelter. Put up some bat houses, and then at night, when they've gone out to get "breakfast", block their usual ways in to sleep under the siding.

Bats practically eat their own weight in mosquitos every night. Don't kill them; they're your friends. Just help encourage them to move to the bat houses.

Well, the 2 links below are from eHow.com, with step-by-step instructions on how to get rid of bats in the house and tips from other users on that same problem. But I agree that bats are very useful, so once they are out, providing alternate roosting places would definitely be a good idea. You might want to make sure that it is only *under* the siding that they are roosting, by the way. From the information at eHow, they can find extremely small holes to get into, to find their way into the house and up into the attic, etc. Good luck!!

I bought an ultrasonic mouse deterent...It emits( a silent to most ears) a high frequency sound which rodents don`t like. It doesn`t affect my dogs or birds etc, It is very small & just plugs into an electric outlet....I had bats which were nesting in the space between my old wood siding..(I live in a house which is 125 plus years old)& the roof of my front porch....They soon left my property.....I did this because their poop (GUANO) was eroding the surfaces that it landed on, plus it is toxic or poisonous to my dogs...I know that the bats are great for eating bugs etc, & are very welcome on my property other than building their nests in my house itself..Also try placing a bat house on another part of your yard & maybe they would move.......
