Wars sell, that's why so many stations talk about it and show footage. Like the saying goes, "if it bleeds, it leads".
I quit watching tv because I don't feel it's balanced enough. All you see is the bloodshed and violence and none of the "good" being done. It's sad.

My brother has not watched the news or read anything other then the comics in the newspapers for over 5 years....I'm beginning to think he's very wise and I'm seriously thinking of doing the same.

He's a lot happier and him being uninformed hasn't made any difference either way.

The media wants stories which are appealing and storiies which will attract an audience. unforunately what they see as appealing is never good news it's always bad news, for eg war, crime and violence.

I never watch the news, and rarely read the headlines. I still get plenty of war stuff through osmosis, I guess.

'nuff said?

yeah...and stop reading the newspapers too. it's pathetic. unfortunately bad news appeals to a wider audience than good news. and a bigger audience means higher advertising revenue. it's all about money. the hype over asian bird flu is overblown too. read about it at http://www.topnewsheadline.com
