Some people used to say that dreams are predictions of the futures but most nowadays don't. Some now say it is a reflection of your embedded self conscience. What you should do if your really not sure is keep a journal and see how your dreams play out.
If your nervous about something you may dream of someone chasing you or falling. You could always read a book on the subject.
As far as the time you have your dreams that means your probably not reaching your REM sleep until then. Don't let that worry you.

Of course your dreams mean something, but only you can say what they mean. Write them down as soon as you wake up, before you forget them, and after a while you will begin to see what they mean.
You can probably see what they mean by asking yourself when you wake up, "what was the feeling" of the dream.? For instance did you feel you were being chased by something bad (I'm not saying this was YOUR dream just a "frinstance") Or were you trying to do something which you thought people would disapprove of (or whatever). The point is to see what things in your normal waking life these feelings could be associated with. For instance ( this is one of my dreams!) if there was a deep pool of water that you had to get across and you were afraid to dive in,because you couldn't swim, it could mean that there are things in your past that you need to deal with but you are afraid to examine them and feel the fear. Dreams are a good source of improvement for your life if you learn to use them. Good luck! I hope you discover wonderful things about yourself.
P.S. Books that claim to interpret your dreams should be viewed with suspicion, as I said, ONLY YOU can really know what they mean. A counselor can sometimes help though if you want to go that way.

You'll be in deep REM sleep then where your brain is going through all of the day's events. There are lots of dream analysis books out there and they all say that everything signifies something else so maybe you should go have a look and see if there are patterns in what you are dreaming to what may be happening in your subconscious that could help you achieve your goals or overcome obstacles in your life.

No. Well the fact they come at 4:00 am is a sign that you are having REM at that time. REM is good. REM is when you get mentally refreshed and you experience dreams. The more REM the better. As to what the dreams mean. You can visit this website to find out what dreams mean. http://www.dreammoods.com/

Actually understanding dreams is a whole science in itself. In the end it all depends on you, how willing are you to accept the meaning of what you dream about.
For example, "to see blood in your dream represents life, love, and passion as well as disappointments. To dream that you are bleeding or losing blood, signifies that you are suffering from exhaustion or that you are feeling emotionally drained. It may also denote bitter confrontations between you and your friends. Your past actions has come back to haunt you. Women often dream of blood or of someone bleeding shortly before or during their periods and when they are pregnant."

Yes and No.
the time is the time you remember. It does not mean you don't have dreams earlier than that.
Dreams most of time mean something. It is from your subconscious mind. However, sometimes they appeared based on actual events, media effects. In that case, it is like a recorder playing back what you remembered. Then it means nothing
