I have a raw 80GB harddisk. I want to make it a dual boot machine(win Xp and Fedora Core 5) . Now I want to make 3 partitions C,D,E each of 20GB and put it in XP. Rest 20 GB in Linux. I have the XP bootable CD with me and also have FC5 bootable CD. Can anybody let me know how to go about doing it?

Do one thing..its very easy...first install XP...use as much space as u desire for tht(60 gb i guess!!)..then...start loadin ur fc5...it gives options to create dual boot...
One more imp thing if u are not aware : u cant use tht 20gb used by fc5 in XP...but u can share XP partition through fc5 only if u choose the option of "format using fat32"..
Hope that helped!!

Hi
Do as following...create partitions first according to your need. say, C, D, E, F (assuming all 20GB). Then install Winxp on C drive and let it be there. Now you can install Linux on your D drive (after it will not be there as D drive for your windows ok). If you have Latest Partition Magic software, then you can format your D drive in linux format(ext3). But I suggest you boot with the Linux Fedora boot disk and follow the onscreen instruction and allow the setup to format your harddrive for linux fs. USE CUSTOM INSTALLATION !, NEVER CHOOSE SERVER OR WORKSTATION, its a must for duel boot syatem. Now provide the mount point and continue your installation. it will guide you for the rest. Choose GRUB as your boot loader. I found its better than LILO. and it will automatically detect your windows installation.
PLEASE visit the following link before installing,I STRONLY SUGGEST THIS. Its an official support.

But if u r an expert, you can follow this instructions, but do it on your own risk. Its a little bit advanced.
