Obviously, meeting new people that you like is exciting, but if you have good friends, hold onto them. There's scientific research out there that shows people with long-lasting friendships live longer, happier lives. I think having close friends around you throughout life is a basic human need. So I wouldn't go discarding people left and right just to keep things "new."

Although, if you feel like you're in a rut with someone, or just don't have much in common with them anymore, I see nothing wrong with taking a step back and letting the friendship fade out naturally. But if it's a friendship that you've valued in the past, maybe you should try learning or doing something new together before you let that friendship go.

Make new friends and remake friendships by all means but the first 2 steps are a big No-No!!!! If someone can really do what you said, he/she doesnt know the meaning of friendship and doesnt deserve to be called anyone's friend! You dont get into a rut because of your friends, and to learn new things in life, its not necessary to break old friendships! And to make new friends you dont need to churn old friends!!
