Both...they could be genetically geared to be gays or they could have, along life's course, swerved in that direction.

I would have to say that it really depends on the person. I have known men that I would say were actually born in the wrong body. While others I would say are most likely a result of the environment that they were exposed to. Some of the gay men that I have known and have befriended throughout the years have admitted to me that there was in sometime of their life sexual abuse by another male. However, they would also argue that this had nothing to do with the fact that they were gay.
But, like I have said I have met some that were basically born in the wrong body. My dearly departed best friend was gay. Dickie knew from a very young age that he was different from other boys his age even before puberty. I believe that Dickie is one of the few people that are actually born gay while others are a product of their environment. Either they are gay due to the experiences of sexual abuse or gay by choice due to the fear of the rejection from the opposite sex.
Either way, I don't think that we will ever truely know the answer to this question since there are so many things to consider to figure out if a person was born gay or a product of their bringing up.

Latest thinking in the scientific community is that there is a strong biological or genetic component towards the disposition to being gay or lesbian. The environment probably has an effect on the expression of this trait IMHO. No, I am not gay.

Definitely not born that way... It's something that is learned or caused by events in that person's life.
That's like saying murderers were born that way... Babies don't come out of the womb with an angry, tormented demeanor wildly stabbing at random people. no, they were born as a normal healthy child and somewhere along the way, something happened to cause them to make the decision to go around killing people. Emphasis on the "MAKE THE DECISION" part.

I don't know what your association is, but I do believe they are a product of their environment. I think we all are made with the same genetic coding. For example two girls could be born with perfect swimmer's bodies, wide shoulders, thin hair, athletic. But one of them can't afford swim lessons and the other can. They both are capable of being olympic swimmers but their environment can't nurture their abilities. If you are the only child in your family, and your mother choses to raise you a certain way it is only natural that you adapt to this lifestyle. Overall, I do believe that there are times when genetic coding fills itself out, where humans defy their upbringings because that is what their mental personality survey filled out.

I think it's a bit of both. I think there's probably something in their genes that makes them more likely to become gay and that some environmental factors contribute in either making those genes active or getting them to come out of the closet.

Yes some people are born with hormones or genes which make them more attracted to the same sex or gender as them and some people just move with the crowd or fall into actives due to peer pressure.

gee, anyone who can honestly claim to know that would be a due a nobel prize for sure. in my experience sexual orientation is something you're born with, it's hardwired into your brain like all your other personality characteristics. also, brain scans have shown that the sight of an attractive potential partner actually stimulates different brain regions that it would in heterosexual males. to me, that very much sounds like being gay is a hardware matter.

A bit of both -
In our global society, we have people who have different capablities.
In sport people chose the sport/s that suits them. The variety is hard to count.
In carrer people choose the carreer that suites them........and so on..........................
Even as we know it when it comes to good and bad deeds, we are all capable of a particular one or ones.
Take your group of friends : someone from there WAS capable of hijacking or murder - but his lifes demands didnt allow him and/or his upbringing and environment never expose him to it.
THE SAME WITH GAYS - someone in that group of friends WAS capable. And if he was heavily exposed to a gay society or gay organisation, you can bet his got his *** screwed.

I'd say could be either. I've heard gayness is a "mutation" in someone, but I also expect that some people trick themselves into thinking they're gay when gayness is prevalent in society like today.
