does anyone have a possible idea for how we could possibly sort out the total and utter mess we are in i.e. education, health, immigrants and guns. Cos i was just wondering, obviously the government cant think of anything (though there all pretty busy with their ranches and millions of pounds) so i was wondeing if anyone else could also does anyone else think that the democracy as we know it in england doesnt actually work, wheres our choice, cant vote in new people cos they dont know or have any experience on running the country and lib dems are best but no experience, conservatives are a bunch of loons and labour they are the fattest bunch of fat cats around....

Thanks to ebook-guy for the stupidest answer I have yet to see on this site - The Queen is only a figurehead u dope. And I must have been reading the wrong papers, because you seem to have more protests in the US than we seem to manage even in the UK, so I don't think your system of Government has a lot to crow about. And Congress is so mind-numbingly boring. I mean they all applaud that moron Bush when he comes in. Don't any of these people have brains?
BUT I do like the idea of a military coup! Benevolent military dictatorship is the only way ahead for the UK. We are basically incabable of electing a decent government as we prove year after year. Everything just seems to get worse! Either that or we just stay as we are. The other options - proportional representation etc, have just as many drawbacks as the current system which at least has in its favour that its provided a broadly stable environment for the last several centuries.

Get involved. Open a Yahoo Group and get people talking. The nation is too busy worrying about Credit cards and what the Jones have rather than what is going on in the house of Commons. I'll join if you want. Am ready for this, email me and lets do it.

Perhaps your right and the democratic system is past it's sell by date.My view on the state of British politics is that it is indicative of the state of British societ as a whole. It's always been a bungling, incompetent country and the few remaiing skills that existed have now been killed off.Another determining factor are career politicians. If you look at the bunch who are now in charge, not one minister has any managerial or working background outside politics.I certainly wouldn't leave any one of these idiots in charge of anything of mine.

there's one solution in your country and i am not from UK i am a yank but i have a solution in your country try organising a military coup talk all to the generals in royal army and tell them its time that UK turned into a presidential system of goverment than being a parliamentary government then lets the tank rolled in march to the Buckingham palace and arrest the queen and throw him out in the UK and changed the form of government like the united states of America where the president is the one who is in charge not the prime minister and then elect senators and congressman i mean everybody has the right to join the government not just royal blood right.

Vote in a total unknown - how bad can things get? Most of the work is done by the civil servants anyway.

Socialist revolution. Get rid of greedy and replace them with people who know what they are speaking about. Unfortunately, its the greedy that look for power which is why we are in this mess.

You could always start your own political party! (Just remember not to refer to the U.K. as 'England' - nothing is more annoying for people in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) ;)

it doesnt matter what ideas we have. our opinions are worthless no matter how much we are infuriated by the way our country is run we have no say in the matter. people can say we live in a free country but think hard and we clearly dont!
