cuz those who can't see could knw tht this is 5 and thts how they knw all the numbers. if u learn typing on ur keyboard on the right side theirs same thing. the point on 5 is where ur finger knw where are all the keys. when u r typing fast u have to knw where is ur resting key.

The sign (or bump) on the 5 of the phone is to help visually impaired people to find the center of the keypad and make dialing easier. Shut your eyes and try it sometime. It does help you find the center.

For blind ppl, so they can know where they are on the pad. Same with keyboard, take a look.
