It really all comes down to theirs parents. In order to guide young people they must have guidance from someone and who better than their parents? That is what is wrong with all kids these days. Parents need to learn to take an active roll in their child's life. it is important to teach them right from wrong. So many parents want to just let their child run free and then wonder why they get into trouble.

Young people aren't necessarily "stupid" about sex, they are cocky about sex. They know about birth control and AIDS, etc., they just don't think it will ever happen to them. Youth never changes does it?
Also, the media glorifies pre-marital early sex....our music, ads, movies, etc. In some cultures getting pregant young is more acceptable and the consequences are not really much more than get on aid and have a few more kids. The reality of raising strong, healthy kids is not there. Instead of out of wedlock pregancy being a thing to think about as a failure it is praised as an accomplishment as if fathering a child takes ability. Look at the number of athletes and rap stars who impregnant numerous women at the same time.
As we all know, getting someone pregant or getting pregant doesn't take any brains - any animal can do that. It is knowing how to NOT get someone pregnant or getting pregnant that takes intelligence and sense.
I am not against pre-marital sex once out of high school as much as I am unprotected sex which is just not using one's head! Ah, so I guess you are right - young people ARE stupid about sex!
Sex among those under 18, however is just stupid - not only do these young people not have the ability to bring up a child when pregnancy occurs, it probably isn't that pleasurable. Sex with a loving partner is more than the wham bam thank you mam sex adolecents have. So girls - wake up! If you don't say
"YES" these young irresponsible bucks will have to wait until they know how to appreciate and treat you well.

Well likre most young kids they dont listion good enough, this is why they are kids, also if you look at the adults these and how they are about sex, cheating and so on,and if you look at most of the world today all you see is sex.So kids think its a big joke ,alost like everyone is lieing about it.How can teachers or adults teach these stuff and then turn around and do what they tell us what we shouldnt do.Now what they should add to sex class is somone who is dieing with AIDS or has STD.Then the kids could see what it could do.When i talk to my kids about sex i tell them the truth about what i did and so on.My girl may not like the idea that mommy was with more men then just her dad but fact is i was and i regret it .I feel being open and truthful has helped her learn more and want to stay away from it till she is smart enough and a adult. So if you want to teach kids tell the dam truth and let them see the gory details

Yes, public schools have been teaching the biological facts about sex for decades, but they fear teaching morality or the pyschology of having sex before complete emotional development. Additionally, public education only has a small grip on their students; it can't compare with the hours of influence from the media, the music, movies, their equally unprepared friends, and their parents. Handing out condoms to emotionally underdeveloped students perpetuates the problem.
Peace.

They aren't stupid...they are just too caught up in that moment of impulse and lack self control. Actually, sex education should include and emphasize on teaching self control and abstinence rather than birds and bees issues. Many schools have the wrong focus when it comes to sex education!

A lot of areas of the country don't have sex ed (or nothing useful anyway)...and that class teaches mainly the mechanics of how pregnancy occurs...that stuff isn't terribly interesting so I would imagine few pay GOOD attention and most others think it won't happen to them (preg or STDs).
Don't fuss about young people though..I know just as many adults who are careless about whom they have sex with and what kind of protection they use...
Instead of insulting young people, why not offer to give them valuable advice and information...people tend to be more willing to listen when it appears you want to help, not just ridicule...

sure schools have "sex education" the only thing that they teach you is abstinence (yea right) so teens are not well informed about the consequences from sex sure they know that you can get pregnant and get stds but they do not fully understand them sex ed sucks in school and parents will not tell their children about sex because they think that it will "give them permission" to go out and have sex which is not true it just tells them what they can expect when they finnally make an informed decision about sex but we do not give them that chance

Because sex education in school is terrible. It doesn't teach a damned thing about sex at all. They don't teach you HOW to use birth control. They don't teach you HOW to prevent STDs. They only tell kids to "use a condom". Well, if you don't know how to use one.....it doens't do much good now does it?
