the best thing is to use a cream like e45 or hc45. The other thing to do is make sure your baths/showers are not too hot. This can dry the skin out. Use moisturiser every time you come out of the shower/bath. don't wear tight cloths as you will seat more and irritate the skin and also have a look at your washing powder. This can irritate your skin as well if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.

all 3 of my kids suffered from this. the doc can prescribe some good creams and they are cheaper than buying from chemist. However a very cheap and effective remedy is to take the foot of an old tight or stocking or even a sock and fill it with porridge oats. dead cheap from the supermarket. put a couple of handfuls into your stocking and tie a knot in the end. Then hang it on the hot tap and run a bath. The water will go milky white. soak in the bath then get out and pat your skin dry. Have no idea how or why it works but it does. Give it a try. its simple cheap and effective

i have had atopic exzema since i was about 3 and the best thing i have used is e45 or some diprobase cream. using really oily creams is better than steroids as you need to rehydrate the skin all the time. good luck x

You can buy a product called Oilatum and that is excellent and really soothes the skin. Coal tar is supposed to be really good as well.

I have heard that oatmeal works - make some up and put it on the area.
The only thing I have found to work is steriod cream. :(
but one dose usually makes it go away for a week!

Not quite sure why this is women's health, as blokes get it too. Go into a pharmacy and ask for a cream for excema. They'll probably give you hydrocortisone cream.
