3/4 x 1/5 x y =60.
Therefore 3/4 y = 60 x 5.
3/4 y = 300.
y = 300x 4/3
y = 1200/ 3
y = 400.
Substitute 400 for y and see if it works!

400 !
Work backwards ! If 60 is 3/4 of a number, divide 60 by 3 and then times by 4 !
60 / 3 = 20
20 * 4 = 80
therefore the 3 4th of one fifth is 80. but what is one fifth ? easy - times 80 by 5
80 * 5 = 400
therefore the original number is 400 !
now check your answwer:
one fifth of 400:
400 / 5 = 80
three fourths of 80:
80 / 4 = 20
20 * 3 = 60

Three fourth = 3 ÷ 4
3 ÷ 4 = 0.75
One fifth = 1 ÷ 5
1 ÷ 5 = 0.2
60 ÷ 0.2 ÷ 0.75 = 400

Work the problem backwards. If 60 is the result, start there. 60 is three-fourths of one-fifth of something, so
60/3=? (the three of four that 60 is)
?*4=?? (the full four parts)
??*5=??? (five of the above parts)

the answer is found like this:
First you need to find what 60 is 3/4's of. 60 is 3/4 of 80.
Then you need to find what 80 is one fifth of. Simply multiply 80 by 5...80 is one fifth of 400.
Therefore, the answer is 400
