Because people like reading and watching movies that satisfy their imagination. Potter gets to do things that aren't really possible in real life. People watch or read it and they get to escape for a little while into a world where anything is possible.

Tell you what when I was growing up Enid Blyton, Nancy Drew etc were the craze and now it is Harry Potter. My daughter is a big fan she has all the books, all the movies on DVD, has posters, pencil boxes, tee shirts, those desk top pictures you name it and she has got it. Kind of nice. Ihaven't read any of the books though Ihave seen the movies - preety neat. Good clean entertainment and Ikind of like that Radcliff kid. There is nothing wrong.

OK iam 46 and i love the books, movies are ok but they didn't stick to the books. JK Rowling wrote a great story line, of Love, friendships death and yes a little magic.......

but magic is NOT what the HP craze is about its the struggle of a boy that has been marked for death.

i could go on more but then you would be reading a book LOL

It's a rare thing: a book that is well written and tightly plotted, and yet appropriate for all ages, or at least most. Also, the writing is engaging, the characters are either imminently likable or hateable, as appropriate to them, and they're just a fun read.

They got my son to start reading; now he's 12 and reads more even than I did at that age.

No. I study the two sequence and so have lots of my friends. a pair of my classmates have study the two the Harry Potter books or the Twilight Saga and others have seen the two of them and all of us like them - some individuals have met J.ok. Rowling right here in la e book signings and characteristic long previous to Twilight activities - like we are on Thursday for the period of a school adventure - so as that makes us involved. I call myself a Twi-Pot yet i admire Twilight incredibly greater.

I don't know, i think it is all crap. I personally like the lion the witch and the wardrobe better. After the first harry potter it all went down hill, and I don't even think the first one was that great. I guess we are looking for a great trilogy but potter is not it. thumbs down.

Because it is awesome.

I know I hate it when my keyboard doesn't let me type certain letters. I hope you get yours fixed soon.

babygirl, there is a difference between 'following the crowd' and doing what you like. I don't like Harry Potter because everyone else does, I like it because I like it. If something brings yuo joy, why care if someone else is doing it? It isn't even being yourself!
