Probably not, since it doesn't end sex drive, which is what most propenents are really after.

I think parents of children who have been victims of child rape or sex crimes would have no problem in justifying castration in a large percentage of cases. Not having being in this horrific situation myself I still have too agree after DNA testing and no shadow of a doubt then YES, it is certainly a possibility. I hear stories of sex crimes against children and minors by offenders who are REPEAT offenders. How on earth can this be allowed to continue. Surely the justice system cannot be continually allowed to release these people. Keep them locked up or find some fail-safe method to make the world a safer place for our children. I believe rehabilitation in these cases is a lost cause. I know I have focused of child crimes, but where do we draw the line???? Attackers of adult female and male rape victims too???? Castration is probably an act that would seem too barbaric to many unless you are filled with anger towards your attacker...or if some such unspeakable crime has affected your children or family. I do however strongly believe it is a very viable method of punishment. I also believe in such crimes it would not be a deterrent to many who really have something in their Psyche that drives them to continue to sexually attack defenseless children.

Is rape a crime committed out of sexual frustration, or a crime commited out of anger toward another human being?

Chemical castration only works if the offender continues to willingly submit to the medication. The success rate is fairly low, about as low as counselling in an adult.

Perhaps education and intervention at an early age is the best prevention? Is castration a deterrent?

Do I offer more questions than answers?

When the equivalent crime the perpetrator in question has committed is one that is equally irreversible:
-Innoence can not come back
-Abuse cannot be undone
-Rape cannot be ondone or go away
-Virginty does not come back

Thus, it is 'fair' in the idea that penis will not come back, the removal cannot be undone, his punishment will not go away, and his 'innocent' image will not come back, socially.
It seems fair - though it is cruel for anyone- because consider the person's victims. They are amamed for life. Physically, emotionally, spiritually harmed. Why should he live his life with no consequences, getting the benefit of what he has done wrong?
So in the case of a criminal mind, yes.
Just like the victim, though they can 'overcome' and change for the better and heal what happened, there is always something in the heart mind and soul of the victim that is forever changed, damaged. He should also be forever changed, damaged. Its FAIR.

There is a good point made in that it doesnt remove the sick psychology or ability for desire/arousal. In that case, it's a person who needs intensive treatment or to be locked away forever.
Why give the criminal the benefit of the doubt, as if to not give protection to our fellow women, and innocent children, who depend on us to help them, to keep these people away form them? I think not doing something is a betrayal to our children and all victims of all sexes and ages. Dont be kinder to the criminal than you are to the victim!!

That's difficult. It depends on the intention and the way it's done. I guess if it's for the good of everybody, then it's okay. But then again, it's a form of mutilation and no human being should be allowed to do that against anything else (human or not).

I would say not. In the case of pedophiles and perverts, I believe that there are other ways--such as life-imprisonment or another more civillized punishment.

I think there is a strong case for it, when there is strong evidence of guilt, such as DNA and fingerprints. It is preferable to the death penalty for heinous crimes like rape, and takes some of the stress off of an overcrowded prison system. If we are willing to put ankle bracelets on dangerous criminals, we should be willing to consider depriving these criminals of their "weapons".

Possibly. Perhaps moreso when it's chemical castration.

It doesn't remove the ability or desire to abuse, so no. Otherwise in extreme cases I might be willing to support it as a last resort.

Convicted of the rape of a child or extensive child molesting perhaps.

rapist and pedophile definatly......and with the ability to link criminals with thier dna, there will be no mistakes made, that would be my only worry....if you get it wrong, too bad, like the death penalty, not cool if you get the wrong person!!!
