There are so many places that unlock phones. They charge anywhere between £10 - £15 & I think it only takes about 5 mins. They do it while you wait (never leave your phone with the people while they do it, they might not be there when you go back)...

My friend found a way around this by telling vodafone he was going on holiday, and they unlocked his phone to allow a roaming sim card or something...then he switched to meteor!

www.theunlocker.co.uk, they have code generators for a few popular manufacturers which will allow you to unlock it just try searching around. If it is Nokia you will have no problem unless very new, Samsung, SonyEricsson etc are common. Otherwise, the dodgy market stall type place will do it for around £10

You need to find someone who has an unlock service, which won't be one of the main phone stores. They sometimes show up at markets but there is no surefire way of finding them.

Some operators put a default pin on new mobiles.
O2 is normally 4321.

I'd check with O2 though.
