please pardon my ignorance -- i've always wondered this, but never wanted to insult any of my black friends by asking them...

Yes, black people get darker after being in the sun, we do tan.

not really.. as they have a pigment on their skin called melanin.. this pigment reflects off more of the UV rays from the sun comparing to the whiter people.. however they would still get sun burn if precautions under the sun are not taken..

probably. the sun's rays cause the body's melanin to rise to the surface to protect the body against the sun's rays. black bodies are no different from white bodies.

Yes they do. One of my friends was almost put in the stockade while in the army because he actually got a sunburn. He was African-American.

It depends how black they are..But they still can get sun burned thats for sure.
