I'm 19, female, and in college. The dress is pink, floor length, and strapless.

I don't think you should wear pearls - no offense to anyone out there, but pearls are 'elderly'. Pink goes well with silver. Perhaps you could wear sparkly earrings with your hair up, or a nice necklace and your hair down. Either way, make sure you wear a bracelet too. It'll make your arms look nice since your dress is strapless.

Keep your make up simple too. Lipstick, blush, and little or no eyeshadow, but do wear mascara.

Daisy is right, pearls are a classic elegant look. You can even get them in pink if you want.
A few pink gemstones that you could get a set in: sapphire, tourmaline, topaz, zircon, amethyst, and many more. Just go to your local jewelry store or department store counter and tell them your price range and ask to see what they have in that amount. You could probably get a great pair of studs and matching pendant for about $100-$200.
If you don't want to invest that much, try cz, crystals (Austrian or Swarovski), beads (glass or lampwork), whatever you like. You can always buy lab stones for about half of the real thing, and nobody will know the difference. However, rhinestones are very obvious that they are fake. I'd stay away from them since you aren't a little girl playing dress-up.
Less is more, elegant is better than flashy, and you can't go wrong if you follow your own personal style. If you like dangles, maybe a line or drop instead of chandelier.
If you've got the time to have it shipped, try eBay, Overstock.com, and discount jewelry sites. If not, look around for sales at local stores.

Pink always goes perfect with a silver/rinestone combination - if you chose a choker style neck piece wear long earings but if you are wearing a longer neck piece wear a small stud like earing. Keep the neck piece flat not something protruding off your skin. Your 19 not 90 - stay away from the pearls. Good luck.

I say it is always nice to wear something that maybe belongs to your mother or grandma if possible. Family heirlooms are always nice. If thats not available there is lots of nice jewlery for reasonable prices. I would suggest keeping it simple and nothing to big or overpowering that will take away from you and your gown. I think small pink rhinestones or other pink stone will look beautiful. Have fun!! Oh and don't forget your smile, that is the best thing you can wear.

Stick to the philosophy "Less is More".
And for no reason do NOT wear huge earrings + necklace + rings + bracelets.
Prefer something, simple, elegant and unique.

You might want to make the colors match. Say you have a red dress Ruby's wouldn't be so bad. Experiment! It doesn't hurt to try.
