I have both browsers and at the moment I.E. is much more convenient to use...I have also found that I have to download all the plugins for gaming websites (e.g.Flash and Shockwave) and soe other stuff too. So my question is: is it actually WORTH the bother?
Fankoo all you people out there who answer my impatient questions..lol!

firefox is amazing when you finally get everything set up.

Ctrl T is your best friend. Use it.

Also, download the popup blocker, foxy tunes and fasterfox and whatever skin you want. Theres also another download where firefox can make I.E. tabs for pages that require it. Also, the Email notifier tells you when you have mail in your Yahoo! mail, Gmail and hotmail accounts. This stuff can be found at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/

I enjoy the Noia skins myself. Also, something that may make Firefox beneficial to you:

Go to:
Tools
Options
Tabs
Then click the box that says Force links to...
and select open in new tab.

This makes everything open in tabs in 1 window instead of having 7000 windows clogging up your taskbar :)

Customization rules.

P.S. My favorite feature about firefox, (idk if this applies to opera or not) is where the getting started and latest headlines little buttons are. You can drag down your favorite sites and put them on that bar, so that theyre always right there and just a click away ( i deleted the getting started and headlines ones, because i dont need them)

They are both pretty good.

Internet Explorer 7 is extremely good and works a lot better than previous versions but it is still in beta. Due to be released near the end of this year.

I find Firefox is quite slow compared to IE also.

To answer your question Firefox is the best out of the two, and you needen't be alarmed, because it comes with shockwave and flash too.

But, if you're looking for a top grade professional made browser look up opera www.opera.com/download.
It's by far the best and it comes with flash to ;)

Better for who?
From a user perspective ie has less of a learning curve but lacks the power of the additional features Firefox supports, Opera is another alternative.
For the developer ie is a nightmare, it is full of non standard compliant bugs and anomolies.

Firefox is great! Much more secure than IE, meaning that I don't get popups or viruses by using Firefox.

I only use IE when I absolutely have to... which is basically never.

Mostly only pages made really REALLY badly (i.e. using proprietary Microsoft tags) don't show up 100% properly in Firefox.

IE is the greatest browser ever ...
the most greath bug on it is ALOW YOU TO DO EVERYTHING
so ... there is not beter browser still , i have even create some browsers for my private needs , but i use IE at the most..

Just secure it with some Antivirus and Spyware keepers .. like
Kaspersky Antivirus and Addaware remover ... and you are cool to go ...

Firefox is the best of the both. But, its not the best of the best, if you ask I would say, opera rocks.
You have lots of things in FF and opera that IE doesn't offer (not considering IE7). for ex : tabs
And the worst thing with IE is activeX which is the root cause for many viruses and worms.

This depends on what you want to use them for and also what your preferences are.

I personally don't mind IE 7.3 it has everything I need and it does everything I need, the only problem I have with it is that some other programs don't like working with it and when I want to use them I have to use a little app I wrote to make them think that it is not on my system.

IE is better for all the reasons that firefox fans-kids say it sucks. they don't know the facts, and follow the crowds.

now, if for some reasons Ie isn't working out, you should use opera.
