MOBO = Music of Black Origin. If I'm not wrong Eminem won an award? These Awards are dedicated to the artists who sing with the origins of Black Music (not much help am I!!) The catogories are Varied from Dance to the R&B and going to even more traditional types like Jazz & Gospel music.
I was right!! Eminem has won a mobo for "Hi! My Name Is .." back in '99.

Generally, "Black" music is defined as styles which were invented/popularised by black people, such as Jazz, Blues, Soul, Hip-Hop/Rap and Reggae. Any derivatives of these genres such as RnB, Ska, Garage and Ragga would also go under this category.

However, due to the fact that more ethnic groups are listening to these styles of music (as with all musical genres) it is more appropriate to call it "Urban" music as it is no longer just black people who produce and perform it.
