There are a few ways to properly introduce yourself, the first way is to stand with them if they are standing and if they are sitting reach over and eitherway shake their hand, the proper way of shaking a hand is having your hand at an angle upwards while theirs is downwards, this is the properway because it shows subservience, this is a properway to shake a person's hand you are wanting to work for. Then you say "My name is _____ and I feel I can be a great asset to your company, ____________ is a great company and I have had the desire to someday work for it. This is my resume (hand resume if haven't given it yet) I hope you can look it over and give me a chance."

I think when the interviewer asks you to introduce yourself, they are looking for an overall picture. They would have already read your resume, which is what got you the interview to begin with... but they are just looking for you to sum it up. A bit about your past, a bit about the present, and a bit about why you're there at the interview! For example, I'd say:

"Well, I've completed two college diplomas and am currently working on my bachelor's degree. I've had various jobs working in an administrative capacity, the most recent of which was at a land surveying company and I'm basically looking for something more challenging."

Introduce yourself eg. ( Good Morning/Afternoon, My name is
------- Have you been able to read My resume.) and point out some points that you would be able to take control, and enhance the business you are trying to break into..
If nothing else ! They will admire your ability to front up and say what you want, and what you can do.

Just be yourself. Some person may advice you to pretend that you know everything, but you are not. I believe that we always have to be ourselves when having a conversation with someone. But what is important is "be the best that you are". So be real, be the best real person that you are.

i just start stating what is on my resume. i don't go into personal details. just start with things that you want them to be aware of that is on the resume that they might not have had time to look over.
