In this day an age it seems that people have a much harder time accepting things that are true. It seems they would rather either pretend its not happening or they would rather live a lie. It makes no sence to me at all. Doesn't it seem to people that honestly is the best policy....And im not talking about one specific thing...It can be anything from a cheating boyfriend to a backstabbing best friend....what the hell is wrong with people?

I agree its very true.
Levis Strauss a philosopher discovered that truth doesn't matter, people only want to believe what supports their ideas.
The Neo-Cons (Republicans) follow a philosophy based on Levis Strauss ideas. If you say something it doesn't matter if its a lie or truth, people believe it, if it feels like it makes sense. EG. The whitewater ordeal with Clinton. He was totally innocent, in fact he lost money, yet everyone believed it because it followed their ideas.
Another example is the bible-- Fossels, the age of the earth, No sign of Noahs world flood, no ruins of the tower of Babel... well no proof of everything, hell, heaven... The bible is a lie. But people want to believe it because to them it makes sense.
Truth does not matter. Truth is long dead.

This is something I never really understood myself,The truth almost always comes out in the long run anyway but before it does there are a whole lot of hurt people and damaged relationships,I myself live with a lier,several times it has almost cost us our marriage,I have got to the point and I know when he is telling me a lie and I dont hesitate for one minute to look him right in the face and call him a liar.I suggest you do the same,stick up for the truth and who ever is lying to you,look them right in the eyes and confront them on it,If they get the hint that you will not tolerate a lie,you might see it change

some people dont like to hear the truth and rather live a lie its a sort of protective blanket round them coz when u know the truth u have to deal with things then and some people are to weak to do so

It depends on the person to be honest. If your weak you won't want to hear the thruth hence you won't have to deal with the consequences, and for some people not knowing means they won't have to deal with the problem. If your a stronger character you won't care you'll prefer to hear it like it is and live with the consequences and not hide them, because things have a way of coming out either one way or the other
