Nooooooooo. Human beings can do a lot of things more than the dog

No. If you're looking for loyalty & fidelity, hands down you'll find that unfailing quality in a dog. Although, very far & in between, you'll find friends who also have this quality. Dogs however, cannot provide conversation, answer your questions or tell the truth when you need to hear it. A shoulder to cry on & comforting words at critical times, no dog can provide that. A dog makes a great companion, but will never be as good as having a true friend.

I have to say dogs. Dogs tend to be more loyal, affectionate and at many times enjoyable that people. They are always there for you. They have no concerns outside of having a relationship with you. If there was a person like that, they would be pretty irritating. There are some things you need people for but they can always betray you, change and become a disappointment. I need both, but could probably get by with just a dog.

Well I have a dog and I have friends and, when the chips are down, I know I can rely on my dog to be "semper fidelis" (loyal faithtul true) whereas any single one of my friends would come up with an infinite number of excuses not to be there for me yet expect me to be at their beck and call. I know, I either need new friends or another dog. I'd rather have another dog.

Most of the times, yes. As previous responders have said, they don't judge, give unconditional love and attention, never argue, ask for much, etc. Yet sometimes we need those human types for a little more intellectual interaction and feedback. However, for overall companionship, a dog would be my choice. Cats are great, too!

yes and no, because dogs are faith full to their owners than a friend to a friend. dogs don't lie and people do sometimes. some people are not 100% your friend, even if they promise you to be there for you. But when you are broke no job no where to live, and no food nobody is your friend, but a dog at least it still there even if you don't have anything to feed it.

Dogs are so awesome, they listen and they are there for you when you need a friend. The are never dishonest and they are always loyal, they don't run off to someone else thinking that they are their owner.

My dog is great - unconditional love and total companionship -

BUT

It is really hard to take her for dinner and a movie.

I feel we need pets and friends for a balanced life. People without pets do not know what they are missing.
