Well the old adage goes that you pierce your right ear if you are submissive and left if dominant, so most straight guys get the left ear pierced. But this is the 21st century, pierce whatever you feel like piercing!

The left ear is traditional for elite groups of the military because it is over the heart. American Indians pierce both, with two different ear rings, large and small.

When I pierced my ear when I was 7, some told me left was gay, some told me the opposite. Now I have two in my right and one in my left.
It really doesn't matter.
