many frogs (toads are frogs) produce a mild toxin that is secreted through their skin. The purpose of this toxin is to defend them from predators that may eat them. When in the predators mouth, this toxin tastes bad, poisons them, or glues their mouth shut. It is very effective.

not all are poisonous.
some of them use poison as a defence against predators, it is secreted from glands around their body.

Nope, not all toads are, and also its not true that toads give you warts. In Holland, we have toads that pee when you pick them up. (yuck)
