I was only 5 years old when the 80's ended, but I feel like I just didn't get enough of it. I repressed it throughout the 90's, but the last few years it all just poured out. Yesterday in class I looked at my friend and said, "I gotta get the hell out of here." He asked why I hated the class so much, and I informed him I was referring to the time period I'm living in. I only listen to 80's music, only wear 80's brands, and only watch 80's movies and shows. For a while I had to date women 10-20 years older just because I could relate to them so much better. I still have nightmares about those damn commies from the USSR invading and bombing us. I question every single aspect of the world, and judge them all by comparing them to how things were in the 80's. This whole situation seems to be getting worse. I just don't fit in here and would give anything to travel back to the Reagan days. Anyone else out there ever experience anything like this and want to go back in time to anther decade?

Oh, I miss the '80s, too, but it seems to me that you don't really know what you're missing. For me, I was in high school, and as I see it, the economy and politics was better than now. However, the '90s, while a cultural morass, were at least a happier time economically.

Musically, the '80s were better than anything since; I'll admit that. And most of the movies were better.

But the cold war was coming to an end as the '80s, and the USSR fell. Those of us who were at least in high school then knew that we would never be bombed by the commies, at least in part because we knew what Sting knew when he wrote and recorded the song "Russians". We knew that they couldn't last, and that a nuclear war was a no-win situation. We still know that now, but the players in the game now are less likely to care if they blow themselves up.

Yeah, I miss the '80s. But you've got to live for now; that's the only way to make sure the future may be better than the past. Otherwise, you'll just get a repeat of now.

Wouldn't THAT suck?

I don't remember much of the 80s except I got a few DUIs and was in an alcoholic induce sex rampage.

But yes, in these times when the world is so screwed up, we try to retreat into a time that was secure for us.
I would give anything to be able to go back to the 70s, as I am now, and live it over and over.
There were fewer STDs then. No herpes or AIDS
.
I could bareback and not even think if the stranger I was with, in the back seat of a car, in an alley, in the worst neighborhood in the city, had anything more than a shot would cure.

Like WOW man, I can relate, man.

I am SOO stuck in the 60s man. Maybe it's these psychedelic clothes and long hair and rose colored glasses, man.

You need to get off them mind altering drugs man. It's distorting time and space man.
