I have suffered from PMT, have taken every pill known to man, had injections etc. etc. I was even prescribed a drug Bromocryptine, all to no avail. Now I can add the horrors of menopause as well. I find the worst is during the night when I cannot sleep for sweats and restless legs - its awful. I would be over the moon to get advice from someone who suffers these symptoms. Many thanks

I so hated PMT before the menopause, dreadful and I was sure I would have it for a lifetime, thankfully since hitting the menopause 5 years ago my PMT has become less and less and now I rarely get it at all, so for me that is fantastic, hopefully it will be the same for you too, are you on HRT, I can't take it as we have breast cancer in our family so I won't risk it, but if you have no history of it and feel it could help you maybe you should try that, I know a lot of women swear by it for big help with the flushes, twitching legs and the PMT, I also take black cohosh from the herbal stores that are in most towns, that's pretty good for the flushes and twitchy legs too and does help with PMT, I try not to eat too many tomato's as I find that makes me have flushes more, peppermint cordial in a glass of water sipped is a help for me too so maybe that would be worth a try, read up as much as you can about it too cause you do pick tips up from leaflets and books and if you have a partner leave the leaflets round for him to read so he can understand what women go through during the menopause, hopefully you have a lovely fella like mine who's very understanding about my whinges of the damn menopause, just don't let it take over you life, good luck.

I have treated many, many women with both menstrual problems and menopausal problems with fantastic results.

When you say every tablet known to man, have they all been orthodox drugs? These are great in their place but tend to be too 'heavy' to help with hormonal problems as they just override all our natural mechanisms, rather than supporting them.

Unfortunately, they are very individual prescriptions and some of the useful herbs can only be prescribed by a qualified practitioner. Sage (salvia officinalis) can be of help with hot flushes/sweats and Chaste Tree (vitex agnus-castus) will help to balance the hormones and allow you a smooth menopause. Ruth Trickey (women, hormones and the menopause) has some great information and can be bought in most book shops or online. The NIMH website (www.nimh.org.uk) has a herbal advice line and they may be able to give you some more info.

Include lots of soya in your diet, and decrease bad fats such as animal fats. Nuts, seeds and avocado will provide good sources of fat. Make sure you have enough exercise and are a healthy weight.

Best wishes.

it sounds silly , but get a moonstone and wear it next to your skin. It honest to god worked with helping with the night sweats and the annoyance. I know it sounds nuts, but I too was desperate.
