take deranged singer mavis hee for example: she was famous and is a has-been now. for singers/actors wannabes, why do you seek stardom when it does not gurantee you a better life than what you are living now?
even if it does, in the sense that you will be hitting the headlines and stuff
1)do you get paid as much as a proper salaried job?
2)will you still face unfair treatment as with all other jobs?
3)the grandfather qn.will u be definately happy?

The more people know about you, or what you do, the higher the probability that you will succeed and find what you need or want. It is all about marketing.

As for men, I think the reason is that women want to have sex with famous men, so the famous men spread their genes. Including the wanna-be-famous gene (that gene hasn't yet to be found but I'm sure it exists.

As for women, it's less obvious, but maybe the wanna-be-famous gene, even though evolution spread it through succesful men, also works in females. Could also be that famous women are attractive because potential husbands expect them to get famous sons, and therefore they can afoord to chose the best men and thereby get healthyer children.

Fame is for insecure people. They need to be validated by external factors and that's what drives them in their pursuit for fame.

The fame gives them a false sense of production; even though it may be obvious to you and I that they haven't achieved anything more than your average non-famous person, they don't see it this way...

Fame does not = wealth

Fame + Rich does not = Happy

but

Wealthy+ unfamous = Peaceful Life = As close to happiness as you're ever going to get!
