The reason the Irish have a reputation for being stupid is because during the Irish potato famine, many of the Irish could not feed themsleves and had to move to England. The ones who couldn't feed themselves, what with having to sell their food to the richer ones, or have it taken from them, were the poor, uneducated ones. These were the people who ahd to migrat to England, so all the Irishmen the common English guy came into contact with were stupid and uneducated.

the Irish stupid? i take offence to that. we are very smart people and a nation to be made fun of. however it is perfectly acceptable for that to be changed to "Do you confuse a Kerry man..."
